Autonomous Fantasies (Music Visualization, Excerpt)

Experimental MIDI animation using Stephen Malinowski’s “Music Animation Machine”. The notes were first captured as an keyboard improvisation, then was later orchestrated through changes in MIDI patches.

This work is designed to “visualize” the experience of listening to music — the methods of correlating pitch with space (both visual and aural) is largely what a musician goes through in their formal training. It has been known to cause some dizziness among some listeners due to its use of phasing processes.

The full piece is about 40 minutes long and is designed to run for long durations both as front and background music.
